Access groups and permissions

When you right-click the Permissions node and select Specify Permissions for Role, Infor Public Sector shows the Assign permissions to role dialog box. The dialog box contains a tree with access group nodes (access group node) and permission nodes (permission node). Licensing determines which access group nodes and permission nodes are available.

A permission grants individual capabilities to a user, such as creating a service request or updating the record for a sewer main. Although most permissions are of the basic add, view, update, and delete variety, there are also permissions for taking specific actions, such as granting supervisor approval capabilities in CDR.

Every permission node has a check box next to it in the tree. Setting the check box grants that permission. Clearing the check box denies that permission.

An access group is a group of related permissions, such as Asset Management, or Personalization. Access groups can also contain other access groups.

Like permission nodes, access group nodes have a check box. selecting the check box not only grants all permissions within that access group but also all permissions in all of that access group’s sub-groups. Clearing the check box denies all permissions within that group and all of its sub-groups. A square in the check box indicates that some permissions are granted and others are denied.

To the right of every access group and permission is a number. This number uniquely identifies the item. The number is used both behind the scenes and in certain configuration files to tie functionality to the correct permission.
