Roadway schematic

The schematic in the Roadway InfoViewer shows a diagram of the roadway and the features that are attached to it. Above and below the schematic are rulers that measure the length of the roadway and the locations of roadway features in different units.

To change the scale of the roadway diagram without changing the length of roadway loaded in the Roadway InfoViewer, you change the roadway's magnification level. You can then work with more precise measurements along the entire roadway without having to zoom in on only one stretch of the roadway.

For example, if you're viewing a 20-mile stretch of roadway and you change the magnification level from 2 to 20, the displayed length will change to slightly over 4 miles. The ruler will show 0.1-mile increments instead of 1-mile increments, and a scroll bar is displayed at the bottom of the diagram so you can view the rest of the roadway.

You can also show distance markers on the schematic. Distance markers are designations that you can use to either measure a roadway, such as with a Milepost distance marker, or correct inaccurate distance markers, such as with an AdjustMile distance marker. After your agency has defined distance marker types and you've added distance markers to a roadway, you can view all markers of a certain type on the ruler in the Roadway InfoViewer.
