Advanced field mapping options

You can define advanced options for each field mapping. The advanced options give you greater control over the synchronization process.

After you add a field mapping, click the link in the Advanced Options column of the Field Mappings grid. The Advanced Options dialog box displays these elements:

  • The Conflict Resolution Rule field overrides the conflict resolution rule for the parent GIS mapping.

    See Conflict resolution rules.

  • The Compare Values as field indicates the data type that you want to use when comparing values, such as Date or String. The default is Inferred, meaning that the data type will be derived from the fields being compared.

For example, if both sources store numbers as strings, the inferred comparison will be a string comparison. If you want to compare the values as numbers instead, you can specify a numerical comparison such as Float or Int.

  • The Float Tolerance field specifies the absolute tolerance that you want to consider when comparing floating point fields.
  • The GIS Time Zone field indicates the time zone that you want to use, if different from the GIS time zone.
  • Select the Compare Date Only check box if you want to ignore the time when comparing date/time fields. The time zone settings are not applied in this type of comparison.
  • Select the Case Sensitive check box if you want string comparisons to be case sensitive.
  • Use the value mapping grid to map specific values between the two databases. For example, the databases might use different codes for the same priority levels, such as 1, 2, and 3 in one database and High, Medium, and Low in the other. By mapping these values you can indicate that, for example, 1 is equivalent to High.
