Overview

Open311 for Infor Public Sector provides access to the Customer Service module so that third-party applications can submit and look up service requests.

Open311 is a widely adopted standard for sharing information about non-emergency issues such as potholes, graffiti, and broken streetlights. The basic idea is that people can use Open311 client apps on their smartphones and laptops to track issues in their neighborhoods. (See http://open311.org.)

Because the standard is open, users have a variety of client apps to choose from. Similar to a web browser, any Open311 client app that supports the standard can use any Open311 site.

On the server side, a city or agency that wants to provide Open311 access must set up a site that client apps can connect to. This is the purpose of Open311 for Infor Public Sector. It provides an interface through which client apps can communicate with the Infor Public Sector database.
