Barcode scanners

To use either of the certified barcode scanners, you must install the WEPOS (Windows Embedded for Point of Service) service objects from Honeywell. You can download the service objects for the Hyperion 1300g from the URL below. Select the Software tab on the product page and download the Honeywell POS4NET Suite.

See http://www.honeywellaidc.com/en-us/pages/Product.aspx?category=Linear%20Imager&cat=HSM&pid=1300g.

The installer for the Honeywell 3800g service objects is included in the Support\Manufacturer Service Objects\HHP Scanner directory within the directory where you installed the device control. To install the service objects, run HandHeldWEPOSInstall.EXE.

After you've installed the service objects, the scanner must be placed in USB HID mode. In HID mode, the device won't scan unless interfacing through an application, because the device no longer mimics keystrokes. To complete this step, scan the USB HID barcode in the scanner's user guide. You can download the user guide for the 1300g from the Documents tab at the above URL. The user guide for the 3800G can be found in the Support\Manufacturer Service Objects\HHP Scanner folder.

Lastly, if you're using the Hyperion 1300g, you must use the Honeywell POS4NET Configuration Utility to add the device. The settings indicated below are required for the device to work properly.

  1. After installing the POS4NET Suite and placing the scanner in USB HID mode, launch the POS4NET Configuration Utility (under All Programs > Honeywell in the Start menu).
  2. In the Configuration Utility, select the Add device option and type a name for the device in the Device Name field.
  3. In the Auto detect list, select False.
  4. In the Port list, select HID1.
  5. Click Add Device.
