Adding an activity to a resource plan

An activity is the type of maintenance or repair work to be performed on an asset that your agency is responsible for, such as a tuning up a vehicle, installing a water meter, or laying down asphalt. You can use the Resource Plan InfoViewer to specify which activities must be performed to complete a resource plan. Infor Public Sector also uses activities to determine which resources are required for the plan and to estimate the plan’s cost.

To begin the work required by the resource plan, you must specify the plan’s identification code in the Plan field of the work orders that are performing the activities defined in the plan.

  1. Load the plan you want into the Resource Plan InfoViewer.
You access the Resource Plan InfoViewer by clicking the Plan link for the resource plan on any form that shows the link.
  2. On the Activities tab, click Add above the grid.
  3. Specify the identification code for the activity that you're adding in the Activity field.
  4. Click Save.
Infor Public Sector adds the activity to the resource plan and shows it on the Activities tab.
  5. Specify the amount of work planned for the activity.
The planned units are the amount of work expected to be produced during the resource plan based on the activity, such as the length of a water main that will be installed or the amount of oil required to change the oil in a vehicle. The unit of measure is based on the unit of measure for the activity’s average daily production. You can specify the planned units in one of two ways:
To specify the number of units required for the entire length of the plan:
    1. Enable editing in the grid and select the activity.
    2. Specify the number of units in the Planned Units field.
    3. Click Save. Infor Public Sector shows a message that the existing monthly values for the plan will be recalculated.
    4. Click Yes. Infor Public Sector shows the number of units planned for the entire length of the plan. Infor Public Sector also calculates the number of units planned for each month of the plan by dividing the number of planned units by the number of months in the plan. You can view and edit this information by clicking the activity's Planned Units link. If you have any resources on the Resources tab, Infor Public Sector will update the number of resources required for the plan based on the usage estimates for the activity.
To specify the number of units required for each month of the plan:
    1. Click the Planned Units link for the activity.
    2. Enable editing in the grid and select each month that the units will be planned for.
    3. Type the number of units for the month in the Planned Units field.
    4. Click Save. Infor Public Sector updates the number of planned units for the length of the plan.
    5. When you’re finished specifying the number of units planned for individual months, click Close. Infor Public Sector updates the activity’s planned units. If you have any resources on the Resources tab, Infor Public Sector will update the number of resources required for the plan based on the usage estimates for the activity.
Infor Public Sector updates the estimated cost for the plan based on the activity’s estimated resource costs and shows it in the Planned Cost field.
