Installing a meter

  1. Select Asset Management > Assets > [Sewer, Storm, or Water].
  2. On the Meter tab, under Meter Management, click Install Meter.
  3. Specify this information:
    Meter ID
Specify the identification code for the meter being installed.

If the meter is associated with a register and component, the register and component IDs are displayed. The Child Components grid lists all components for which the selected meter is listed as the master component.

You can only install a meter that isn't already assigned to an address. You can also click the Create Meter link to the right of the Meter ID field to create a new meter for the address.

    Address
Specify the address where the meter is installed.
    Position
Specify the position number you want to assign to the meter.

Meter positions are used to distinguish multiple meters of the same type at the same address. For example, if an apartment complex has five water meters, you can assign them to positions 1 through 5. Before you can assign a meter to a position, you must define positions in the Address InfoViewer.

    Service Status
Specify the identification code for the status of the installed meter.
    Reading
    Specify the current meter reading.

Alternatively, you can click Record Zero Reading. Because the default value for the Reading field is 0.00, clicking the link indicates that you've deliberately entered a reading of 0.00.

  4. Specify any other information about the meter installation.
You can change the date and time in the Install Date field and record details about the reading in the fields under Usage Reading. You can also specify a code in the Reader Code field to record any irregular circumstances, such as a meter malfunction or suspected meter tampering. Depending on the code, adding a reader code might direct Infor Public Sector to highlight the reading in a certain color when it is reviewed. The reader code can also specify a default service request type that can later be used to create a service request, such as a request to repair or inspect a faulty meter. Depending on your access rights, you can define new reader codes from the Reader Code field.
  5. Click Save.
Infor Public Sector saves the installation information, shows a message that the meter has been installed successfully, and clears the fields so that you can install more meters.
