Comparing roles

Comparing two access roles is an efficient way to see the differences in the permissions that are assigned to each role. Infor Public Sector will show a list of all permissions and access groups that differ between the two roles, indicating which role is assigned each permission or access group and which isn't.

  1. Select System > Security > Access Control.
  2. Click the Action button and select Compare Access Roles.
  3. Select the two roles you want to compare from the Access Role 1 and Access Role 2 list boxes.
  4. Click Compare.

The results are displayed in the Permission Differences grid. Each entry represents either a permission or an access group that differs between the two roles. The Category column indicates the path to the permission or group in the Role Information tree. Permissions are identified by name and access ID in the Permission column, such as Create (7263). Access groups are identified by access ID only, such as (7238).

Because each access group is identified only by a number in parentheses, the parentheses will be interpreted as indicating a negative number if you export the results in the grid to an Excel spreadsheet or a .csv file. Thus, an access ID such as (7238) will be converted to -7238 on export.

If you've selected two roles to compare, the grid includes a column for each role. Because the grid lists differences between the roles, each entry will show a Y in the column for one role and an N in the other, indicating which role is assigned the permission or group and which isn't. If you only select one role to compare, the grid shows all permissions for that role.
