Working with map layers

A GIS map consists of one or more layers, each representing a particular type of geographical feature. In Infor Public Sector GIS, most layers correspond to records in the Infor Public Sector database, such as addresses, parcels, and assets. There may also be layers that only show GIS information, and aren't linked to any database records, such as a base layer showing satellite imagery.

In most cases the map won't show all the available layers when you open it. The layers that are displayed by default depend on the system configuration. To show additional layers, click Search & Options in the lower right corner of the map frame to show the Search & Options box. Select the Layers tab and select the check box for each layer you want to show. To hide layers, clear their check boxes.

Note that not all layers are visible at all zoom levels. Any layers that aren't available at the current zoom level are grayed out.

Some Map Drawers also include query layers, which you can use to look up records on the map. Any query layers that are defined for the current Map Drawer are displayed after the list of standard layers, below a separator. Rather than showing GIS features, a query layer loads the database records that match the selection parameters and shows their markers on the map.
