Notifications

You can configure Infor Public Sector to send email or text notifications to contacts.

This functionality is designed for related applications such as Infor Public Sector Mobile and Infor Rhythm for Civics. For example, users of the Infor Field Inspector mobile app can send customers notifications regarding inspections. You can also use workflow formulas to send notifications from within Infor Public Sector.

See the Infor Public Sector Mobile Administration Guide for more information about configuring notifications for the mobile app.

Notifications consist of several pieces. First, you must define one or more notification types using the Notification Type code definition.

Note: One notification type, INSPSTSUPD (inspection status update), is defined by default. This is used to send notifications from the mobile app.

Next, your notification types must be added to the Hansen8 configuration. The NOTIFICATIONS node is used to configure notification types, notification methods, such as text and email, and providers. Providers are the applications that are responsible for sending notifications using the different methods. You can also use the NOTIFICATIONS node to enable or disable notifications, either globally or for specific notification methods.

For each notification type, you can specify a notification template to use for each supported notification method. Notification templates specify the format and default text for text messages and emails, and can also include placeholders for values such as the contact's name and address.

See Notification templates.

Finally, you can use the Contact InfoViewer to specify contacts' notification preferences. You can specify each notification type that a contact would like to receive, and the preferred notification method.
