Task definitions

A task is one of the individual steps that make up a work order activity.

For example, an activity to tune up a vehicle might consist of tasks to change the oil, check the belts, check the tire pressure, and so on. Each task can also specify the resources required to complete the task, such as types of equipment or protective gear.

The order in which an activity's tasks are displayed in the Tasks grid reflects the order in which they are to be completed in a work order. If the tasks must be completed in a particular order, ensure that they are displayed in the right order in the grid. When you create a work order for the activity, the tasks will be listed in the specified order.

The Tasks grid includes an order column to easily change the order of the tasks. To move a task, click the Reorder Rows button in the second column and drag the task to the new position.

Each task is assigned an index number that indicates the order in which it must be completed. The index numbers are displayed in the # column. When you reorder the tasks in the grid, the index numbers are updated based on the tasks' new positions.
