Budget numbers
A budget number is an identification code for a general ledger account. Infor Public Sector uses budget numbers to track various kinds of transactions such as charges, payments, adjustments, refunds, and penalties.
To create journal entries, a credit and a debit are added to separate budget numbers for every financial transaction. Transaction information from the journal entries can then be exported to your agency's general ledger. The budget number specifies which general ledger account to post the transaction information to.
You create budget numbers in Infor Public Sector based on predefined budget number segments. Based on your agency's account numbering system, the segments can refer to departments, fiscal years, expense categories, and other key information used by your agency to classify its general ledger accounts. Before you can create budget numbers, you must define budget segments.
