Creating address relationships

You can link two or more addresses in a parent/child relationship. For example, you might want to define a relationship between a range address and the standard addresses that fall within the range.

  1. Open the address record you want in the Address InfoViewer.
  2. Select the Relationships tab and click the Add button in the grid.
  3. In the first relationship field, specify the code for the relationships of the parent address to its children.
The first field specifies the relationship of the current address to the addresses listed in the grid, such as a shell with several subunits.
  4. In the second relationship field, specify the code for the relationships of the child addresses to the parent.
The second field specifies the relationships of the addresses listed in the grid to the parent address. Both fields are required so that the relationship can be correctly identified from both ends. For example, the parent address might be a shell address representing an entire building, and the children are subunits within the building. The parent relationship will then be "Shell," and the child relationship will be "Subunit."
  5. Specify the effective date of the relationship in the Effective Date field.
  6. In the Addresses grid, specify each address that will be linked to the current address.
  7. Click Save.
