Roadway versions

As the roadways you manage change over time, you may want to create new versions of your roadway records. For example, if an existing roadway is rerouted, you may want to continue using the same roadway ID to represent a different stretch of pavement. By creating a new version, you can use the same ID for the new road while still maintaining a complete history of the old road.

When you create a new roadway, it is assigned version number 1 and marked as the current version. When you create a new version of a roadway, a copy of the roadway record is created and assigned version number 2. Version 2 is then marked as the current version, and version 1 is unmarked and expired. All existing activities and costs remain with version 1, but new activities and costs will be added to version 2.

You can also choose which roadway features you want to copy to the new version, such as attributes, lanes, and distance markers. This does not remove the features from the old record, it just adds copies to the new one.
