Install, exchange, and remove meters
For example, if the meter at a customer's address is replaced in the middle of a billing cycle, readings from both meters will be required to accurately calculate the billable usage.
Installing a meter means assigning a meter to an address so that the meter's readings can be used to bill the account at the address. When a meter is installed, you can record various details, including the address, installation date, service status, and the meter reading at the time of installation. Infor Public Sector automatically updates any active billing accounts located at the address with information about the installed meter.
You can exchange entire meters, or just meter components or registers. You can also create new meters, components, or registers during an exchange. Given the date of the exchange and the reading of each meter at the time of the exchange, Infor Public Sector can calculate an accurate usage value for the next bill. The account's usage will be calculated as the amount remaining on the old meter plus the amount accumulated on the new one.
When a meter must be removed from an address, you can record details about its removal, including the removal date, the new service status, and the reading at the time of removal. Note that even after a meter is removed, the account service for that meter continues, but no new usage readings will be billed until a new meter is installed.
