Assigning substitute parts

For each part in your inventory, you can indicate a list of alternative parts that are suitable substitutes. If a part is unavailable, you can look up its substitutes to see what other parts may be used in its place. Using the Substitutes tab on the Part InfoViewer, you can indicate the parts that can substitute for the current part and any parts for which the current part can substitute.

  1. Load the part you want into the Part InfoViewer.
    You access the Part InfoViewer by clicking the Part # link for the part on any form that shows the link.
  2. On the Substitutes tab, under Substitute With, click Add above the grid.
  3. Enter your search criteria at the top of the popup to locate the parts you want to use as substitutes for the current part.
  4. Click Search.
    Infor Public Sector shows a list of parts that match your search criteria.
  5. Select the parts that can be substituted for the current part and click Select.
    Infor Public Sector closes the popup and shows the parts in the Substitute With grid. The current part number is also displayed in the Substitute For grid for each part in this list.
