Defining a model home

A model home is a set of shared characteristics that establishes the base design of a structure, such as the common features of a home design for a subdivision. Model homes are defined for an individual project application using characteristics from a single model home characteristic group associated with that project. When you define a model home, you are setting values that have been passed down from the characteristic group. For example, a characteristic group might have a Heated Area characteristic that can be set to 1400 feet for one model home and 1100 for another model home.

Load the application you want in the Application InfoViewer.
On the Model Homes tab, under Models, click Add above the grid.
You should associate a model home characteristic group with the project before you define model homes.
In the Model Title field, type a name for this model home.
Under Characteristics, enter values for each of the model home's characteristics.
The characteristics that are displayed depend on the characteristic group that is associated with the project. To set a value, enable editing in the grid and select the characteristic. Then enter the appropriate value and click Save. Note that depending on your agency's policies and the model home with which you're working, you may not need to edit all of the values.
Specify any other information.
You can type any additional information about this model home in the Comments field. You can also define options for this model home. You can use model home options to create variations of a single model based on options that a developer offers. The option, instead of the model home itself, can then be selected for building applications associated with the project. Note that it is also possible to define model home options on individual building applications.
Click Save.
