Constraint items

This table describes the type of information associated with each constraint item available.

Constraint item Description
Associated Sites Information about addresses, assets, parcels, or properties that are related to the case in some way. This constraint defines the behavior of the Associated Sites grid in cases.
Case Group The group that the case belongs to. This constraint determines the behavior of the Case Group field in cases.
Case Name The name used to further identify the case, in addition to its case number. A case name lets your agency use its own naming conventions to identify a case. This constraint defines the behavior of the Case Name field in cases.
Contacts Information about the primary and additional contacts associated with a case.

For a case type constraint, you have three options. If you select Default Available, you can record contact information when starting a case, but it isn't required. If you select Required, a primary contact is required to start a new case. If you select Display Only, the contact fields are displayed on the Start Case page but have no effect.

For a milestone constraint, you have four options. If you select Default Available, you can record contact information in the InfoViewer. If you select Required, either a primary or additional contact will meet the constraint requirement for the milestone. If you select Display Only, the Change Contacts option is not available from the InfoViewer's Action button. If you select Not Present, no contact information is displayed in the InfoViewer.

Description of Case Any additional information about the case. This constraint defines the behavior of the Description of Case field in cases. This field is also displayed as a Comments field on the Case Description tab in the Case InfoViewer.
Expire Date The date that the case will expire. This constraint determines the behavior of the Expires or Expire Date field in cases.
Primary Site An address, asset, parcel, or property that a case is created for. This constraint defines the behavior of the Primary Site fields in cases. Note that assets can only be used as sites if the Enable Asset Sites check box is selected in Case System Setup.
Priority The priority level of the case. This constraint defines the behavior of the Priority field in cases.
Resolution Code The code indicating how a case was resolved. This constraint defines the behavior of the Resolution Code field in cases.
Source The source of the complaint or reported code violation that initiated a case, such as a Call. This constraint defines the behavior of the Source field in cases.
