Grouping license requirements
Infor Public Sector uses license groups as a convenient way to add license requirements to an application. Infor Public Sector uses group numbers to further organize these licenses into sets. At least one license from each group number must be added to an application to satisfy the group number's licensing requirement. For example, you might have an Electrical license group that requires any one of these license types: Master Electrical, Journeyman Electrical, or Building Maintenance Electrical.
This table describes a hypothetical Repair/Remodel license group.
License Group | License Types | Group # |
---|---|---|
Repair/Remodel | Type A Type B Type C Type D Type E | 1 2 3 4 5 |
In this example, each license type has a different group number, indicating that an application must have a license of each type added to it to satisfy its licensing requirements.
If you want the application to require one license from any of the five license types (A-E), you could assign the same group number to every license type in the license group, as in this table:
License Group | License Types | Group # |
---|---|---|
Repair/Remodel | Type A Type B Type C Type D Type E | 1 1 1 1 1 |
There may be times when you want to require one license from a set of license types and another license from another set of license types, both of which are in the same license group. You can do this by assigning the same group number to each license that you want to include in a set, as in this table:
License Group | License Types | Group # |
---|---|---|
Repair/Remodel | Type A Type B Type C | 1 1 1 |
Type D Type E | 2 2 |
In this example, an application must have at least one license from group 1 (Types A, B, or C) and at least one from group 2 (Types D or E). The type of license doesn't matter, as long as the application has one from group 1 and one from group 2.
You can even add several license groups to an application, adding requirements for every license type in each group. When you add multiple license groups, the groups may contain some of the same license types. This table lists two license groups, their license types, and the group number for each license type:
License Group | License Types | Group # |
---|---|---|
Repair | Type A Type B | 1 1 |
Type D | 2 | |
Remodel | Type A | 1 |
Type B Type E | 2 2 | |
Type C | 3 |
Remember that after a license group is added to an application, Infor Public Sector uses the group number to determine which licenses are required. So, in this example, Infor Public Sector sorts each license requirement by group numbers as follows:
Group # | License Types |
---|---|
1 | Type A Type A Type B |
2 | Type B Type D Type E |
3 | Type C |
Notice that the Type A license is displayed twice in group 1. Infor Public Sector ignores such duplicates. Also notice that Type B is displayed in both group 1 and group 2. This means that a single Type B license can satisfy the requirements for both group numbers. So, in this example, for an application to satisfy all licensing requirements, it must have either a Type A or B license for group 1, a Type B, D, or E license for group 2, and a Type C license for group 3. A contractor with only a Type B and Type C license will, therefore, satisfy all requirements.
