Configuring MICR devices

Some Epson printers have a built-in MICR device that has the ability to read checks. Check the device model number to see if your POS printer has this capability.

  1. To configure a MICR device, navigate to the corresponding port in the Port tree (if it is a separate device), or to the parent POS printer. Right-click the tree node and select Add New Device.
  2. Select MICR in the Device Class list.
  3. On the next form, select the POS printer model from the Select Device Name drop down. You must select the printer model because the MICR is a built-in function of that printer.

After selecting the device model you can enter a logical device name, which Infor Public Sector uses to locate the device. In the Add New LDN field, enter MICR, which is the logical name that Infor Public Sector uses.

  4. Next, configure the communication settings. The Epson MICR device must be configured to have the same serial baud rate as the printer. After settings are entered, click the CheckHealth Interactive button to test the device configuration.
  5. After the Check Health form is displayed, click Read. A check must then be inserted into the slip area of the printer, where a sensor will prompt the feeding mechanism to feed the check through the reader and return a read. The MICR is now configured and should show up in the device tree
