Cloning a service definition

A service definition is a specific set of rules you've set up for a type of service your agency provides. You can create multiple service definitions for each service type, such as different sets of rules to apply within different districts or for different account classes.

Because service definitions can be fairly complex, you can create new service definitions by cloning existing ones. For example, when setting up a water service you might first create a default service definition to use as a template. You can then clone the default to different account classes and districts and create new service definitions by making only minor changes.

  1. Select Billing > Setup > Service > Service Definition.
  2. In the Service Definitions tree, browse to the account class, district, or default service definition that you want to clone.
  3. Right-click the service definition node and select Clone Default, Clone Account Class, or Clone District.
  4. Specify the service to which you want to copy the service definition information in the Service field.
You can clone service definitions between service types. For example, when setting up a stormwater service you might clone the default service definition for your water service and then change the associated asset type from Water Meter to Storm Meter.
  5. Specify the district for the cloned service definition in the District field.
  6. Specify the account class for the cloned service definition in the Account Class field.
If you don't specify a district or account class, Infor Public Sector will use the service definition you're cloning as the default for the service specified in the Service field. Note also that Infor Public Sector doesn't display the Account Class field if you're cloning a district.
  7. Click Save.
  8. Browse to the cloned service definition and edit it as required.
