Creating a sewer service
Usage for a sewer service might be measured by a sewer meter, but more often sewer charges are calculated based on water meter readings. The assumption is that sewer usage is proportional to water usage, so the sewer charge is based on some percentage of the water usage.
To more accurately estimate sewer usage, agencies often use the average water usage over the winter months. Sewer usage correlates to water usage more closely during the winter, because increased water usage the rest of the year is from activities that don't affect the sewer system, such as watering gardens or washing cars.
To create a sewer service with winter averaging, select Consumption from the Type list and Water Meter from the Asset list. Infor Public Sector then shows the Winter Averaging check box and field under the Output Historical Usage check box. Select the check box and specify the scheme you want to use to calculate the winter average in the Winter Averaging field.
