Creating a rate table

A rate table represents a particular set of rules for calculating the charge associated with a rate code. Each rate table is defined by its effective date, and will be used to calculate the charge until the effective date of the next rate table associated with the rate code. The actual calculation is defined in the rate table details.

There are differences between Billing and CDR rate tables. To create a rate table for any of the CDR modules, specify the effective date. For one-off and service-based rate tables, you can also enter a formula that Infor Public Sector will apply to the charge calculated by the rate table, and minimum and maximum values. Service-based rate tables can also be prorated.

  1. Select Billing > Setup > Billing > Rate Table.
  2. In the Rate Table Setup tree, right-click the node for the correct rate code and select Create Rate Table.
  3. Specify this information:
    Effective
Specify the date this rate table takes effect.
    Formula
For a one-off or service-based rate table, enter a formula if you want to apply additional calculations to the value returned by the rate table.

After calculating a charge based on the rate table details, this formula is applied to the value returned. Select Apply Formula Last to have formula applied after the value is prorated and the minimum and maximum are applied.

For example, if a rate table has a formula that multiplies the output value by 110% and a maximum value of $150. Based on the rate table details, the rate table returns a value of $180 for a particular bill. If the Apply Formula Last check box is not selected, the formula is first applied to the returned value, giving a result of $198 ($180 * 110%). The maximum is then applied, giving a final value of $150.

If Apply Formula Last is selected, the maximum is applied, returning a value of $150. The formula is then applied to this value, returning a final value of $165 ($150 * 110%).

  4. Specify values in the Minimum and Maximum fields to set minimum and maximum values for a Billing rate table.
  5. Select Prorate if the charge calculated by a service-based rate table should be prorated.

Prorating is based on the number of days a customer's service was active during a billing period. For example, a new account service might have been active only 15 days out of a 30-day billing period. If prorating is used, Infor Public Sector will multiply the value returned by the rate table by 0.50 (15/30) to calculate the charge for that service.

You can also set up prorating for rate table details. If you select Prorate for a rate table, the entire charge returned by the rate table will be prorated. If you select Prorate for a detail, only the value returned by that detail will be prorated.
