Linear assets

A linear asset is a single asset that covers a long distance, such as a railway, a canal, or a fence. Infor Public Sector includes one standard linear asset type, the roadway asset in the Roadway module. Agencies that have purchased the Asset Agency Defined license can also create their own linear asset types.

Because of their length, linear assets can be dynamically divided into segments to create related records such as work orders and inspections. For example, a work order for a railway might cover just a portion of the railway, as defined by starting and ending measurements.

Because of the complexity of linear assets, you can also attach various types of data to them. You can attach other assets to linear assets, and you can record attributes and elements. Attributes represent characteristics of a linear assets, such as the width of a railway or the depth of a canal, and element are physical parts of a linear assets. As with creating work orders and inspections, attributes and elements can be defined for specified portion of the linear asset.
