Attaching another linear asset

The process of attaching a linear asset to another linear asset is similar to the process for any other asset type. When attaching a linear asset, you can also select an icon to represent the intersection in the schematic.

  1. Load the correct linear asset in the InfoViewer.
  2. In the feature list, right-click to the right of the icon for the correct asset type and select Add new item of this type.
  3. Specify this information:
    "Asset"
Specify the identification code for the asset that you're attaching. The actual field label will depend on the asset type.
    Measured From
Select the end of the linear asset from which the position of the attached asset is measured.
    Distance
Specify the distance of the attached asset from the end of the linear asset that you selected in the Measured From list.
    Offset
Specify the distance of the attached asset from the center of the linear asset. Use zero as the center of the linear asset, negative numbers to denote the distance from the center to the left, and positive numbers to denote the distance from the center to the right.
    Effective Date
Specify the date the asset was attached.
    Side of Linear Asset
Select the side of the linear asset that the other asset is attached to. You can select Left, Right, or Both.
    Schematic Icon
Select the icon that will represent the intersection of the two assets in the schematic.
  4. Click Save.
