Inspection indexes
An inspection index is a numerical value that represents the condition of an asset. Common examples include Roughness Index (RI), Structural Sufficiency Index (SCI), Surface Condition Index (SCI), and Overall Condition Index (OCI), which is based on a combination of the first three indexes. You can also create level of service (LOS) indexes for level of service calculations.
Infor Public Sector uses the results of inspections to calculate indexes based on formulas that you define. Typically, an index formula calculates an asset's condition based on inspection data, such as the type, quantity, severity, and location of observations recorded in an inspection. For example, when defining an inspection type for brake inspections of vehicles, you might add an index that generates a value of 1 (pass) or 0 (fail) based on the degree of brake pad wear and other brake measurements taken by the inspector. Indexes can also direct Infor Public Sector to perform an action based on inspection data. For example, you might have Infor Public Sector automatically create a work order to replace brake pads that are worn below a certain point.
After you define indexes, you associate them with inspection types for specific asset types using the Inspection Types form. When those inspections are performed, Infor Public Sector automatically calculates all associated indexes and performs any actions that might be indicated by the index formula. Calculating indexes helps your agency monitor the performance of its assets.
