Defining an asset inspection type

Note: After creating a new inspection type, you must assign permissions in Access Control before members of your agency can use the inspection type.
  1. Select Asset Management > Assets > [Asst Module].
  2. On the correct asset type tab, under Configuration, click Inspection Types.
  3. In the Inspection Types tree, click the root Inspection Types node.
A grid is displayed on the right listing all the inspection types defined for the current asset type.
  4. Click Add above the grid.
  5. Specify a name for the inspection type in the Inspection Type field.
Note: The name must be unique within the inspection category but can be reused in other categories or with other asset types. Also note that the name is case-sensitive.
  6. Select one of these options from the Observations list:
    Full Length
All observations for this inspection type are recorded for the entire inspection length. The inspection length is the portion of an asset being inspected.
    Measured
Location fields are displayed when you add observations, so you can record observations for a measured portion of the inspection length.
    None
The inspection type does not use observations.
    Sample Unit
Each sample unit represents a selected portion of the asset, such as a ten foot square section of roadway pavement where the pattern of cracking is judged to be typical of the whole roadway. You can define one or more sample units.
  7. Select the Use Components check box if you want to conduct inspections on individual parts of an asset.
  8. Specify any other information about the inspection type, such as a description or standard operating procedures.
  9. Select the Show in Portal check box if you want inspections of this type to be shown in Infor Rhythm for Civics.
Rhythm for Civics is a cloud-based web portal for Infor Public Sector. If the Show in Portal check box is selected, customers will be able to see associated inspections in the service request viewer in the portal.
You can select the Is Public check box to show inspections to members of the public, not just customers. You can also use the Portal Description field to specify an alternative description of the inspection type to be displayed in the portal. The alternate desscription can help users more easily understand what the inspection type is for.
Note: You can enter up to 300 characters in the Portal Description field in Infor Public Sector, but the portal only shows the first 30 characters.
See the Infor Rhythm for Civics Administration Guide for more information.
  10. Click Save.
  11. Add detail pages, indexes, observations, components, and safety messages to the inspection type.
