Critical services

Critical services are a feature of water mains and service lines that help you determine what services will be affected if a water main is shut down.

When creating a water service line, or when editing a service line in the InfoViewer, you can specify a critical service code in the Critical Service field to indicate that the service line provides water to an important customer, such as a fire station or a hospital. The critical service code also includes a phone number so that the customer can be contacted if the water main must be shut down.

In the Water Main InfoViewer, the Critical Services tab shows each service line associated with the current main that is a critical service, as well as the critical services associated with each main on the Affected Water Mains tab. This gives you a list of the critical services that must be contacted before the main is shut down.
