Creating a failure definition

  1. Open the Failure Definition form.
    Create Failure Definition is displayed under Failure Analysis on each of the asset menu pages. You can also click Create Failure Definition under Configuration on the Risk Management page.
  2. Type an identification code for the type of failure in the Failure field.
  3. If you want to limit how long the code can be used, enter an expiration date in the Expire field.
  4. Enter a brief description of the code in the Description field.
  5. Click Add above the Asset Types grid.
  6. Select the asset type the failure code applies to from the Asset Type list.
  7. If you want to further limit the type of asset the failure code can be used for, enter a unit type in the Unit Type field.
    The unit type indicates a specific kind of asset of the type specified, such as a Truck unit type for a vehicle asset type.
  8. Click Save to add the asset type.
  9. Repeat steps 5 to 8 to add any additional asset types.
  10. Click Save.
