Data types

The Memo system includes these data types:

  • Excel and Lotus spreadsheet
  • Sound, image, and video
  • Word processing link

Data types are system defined. Contact your supplier if a data type is required.

If a data type is not required for your installation, then modify the data type and clear the Active check box.

You can also maintain the description of the data type.

For example, the standard description for Word Processing data types of Stowe Word Processing Interface can be changed to reflect the word processor package being utilised.
Note: While the data type cannot be changed, the exe file may change with later versions.

For example, data type Excel 5 may be used for Excel 5 and Excel 7. Stowe data type Excel 8 may access the exe file stored in the Excel 97 directory.

You can link a default data type to a particular memo type. Any new memos added which are linked to this type have the default data type.

You can change the default data type from the memo type if the data type is not applicable to this individual memo.
