Try SMTP
The Try SMTP switch is used to enable a From address to be specified on plain text messages. If you do not specify an address, the messages are only sent through SMTP if an HTML Body field is specified in the E-mail Template Maintenance form. If sending the message through SMTP fails for some reason, then an attempt is still made to send it through a MAPI client such as Outlook. In this case, the From address will be that of the user logged on to the MAPI client.
Note: You can provide special privileges for the
nominated SMTP account to send messages with different From addresses. For example, if the
internal anonymous SMTP access is not allowed. Specify information in the SMTP Account Id
and SMTP Account Password fields in the Mail Server Details section in Mail and Fax Server
Maintenance. The means of doing this is mail server-specific and beyond the scope of this
guide.
