Creating a widget

  1. On the Pages > Drafts page, click New.
  2. On the Select Template page, select the template to use.
  3. On the Configure Page page, select the elements to add to the widget.
  4. Click Next.
  5. On the Define Page Properties page, specify the name of the widget, a description, and assign tags.
  6. Click Next.
  7. On the Select Data Service page, perform these steps:
    1. Add a new data service or search for the data service from which to retrieve data.
    2. Click the corresponding Add (+) icon.
  8. Click Next.
  9. On the New Page page, perform these steps:
    1. Select the attributes, data properties, and strings to assign to each element.
    2. To return to previous steps, click the widget name menu icon.
    3. Select from these options:
      • Page properties: Select this option to change the project name, description, and assigned tags.
      • Template settings: Select this option to change the selected elements.
      • Translatable strings: Select this option to change the selected translatable strings.
      • Data Services: Select this option to add new data services and change the selected data services.
      • Variables: Select this option to add, change, and delete variable values.
      • Refresh settings: Select this option to enable auto refresh.
    4. Modify the widget content.
    5. To adjust the view of the widget, click the size buttons at the top and the right side of the preview.
      Note: The size buttons are only used to change the view of the widget so you can easily view the widget information. These buttons do not change the actual widget size.
  10. Click Finish.
  11. Optionally, in the Page Saved dialog box, select the Deploy this version to Portal catalog check box.
  12. Click Publish or Later.

On the Drafts page, the new widget is automatically added to the list of projects.

If you publish the widget, the widget is automatically added to the list of projects on the Published page. If you select the deploy option, the widget is directly deployed to the Widget Catalog.
