About strings

A string is a type of global object that encapsulates a value. This value is usually a set of alphanumeric characters.

Strings are used instead of a literal text as component captions to support consistency and to ease customization and translation. For example, when you change the value of a string named {ItemNumberHeaders} from Item No. to Item Number, all components that use this string are changed. If literal text is used for each caption, each component must be updated individually.

Strings are used in Infor OS App Designer to provide translations to widget components. We recommend that before you create a project, you create translatable strings, and assign these strings to each of your widget components.

You can also create strings within Infor OS App Designer.
