Dock logging
This process of scanning packages as they are removed from the truck is known as dock logging. The express couriers often arrive in waves at a loading dock, and their prime object appears to be to off load the packages as quickly as possible and leave. The dock logging feature lets receivers quickly scan the carrier tracking number of each package as it is removed from the truck and make sure that the delivery manifest is accurate. That way, discrepancies can be quickly identified before the driver has left the location.
An added benefit of dock logging is that employees waiting for a package are able to look at the tracking page and see whether the package has arrived at the company. Dock logging is optional, and the rest of Infor Receiving and Delivery can be fully used even if your organization does not use dock logging.
Dock logging is used to validate that the carrier tracking numbers on the packages that are delivered by a carrier match the tracking numbers on the packages on the carrier’s manifest. Dock logging lets you validate the packages against the delivery manifest, resolve discrepancies immediately, and record the exact time the packages arrived.
