Installing MSCM on the Motorola handheld browser

Establish a network access before you install Mobile Supply Chain Management. When deploying in a wireless environment, ensure that the handheld devices have been configured to communicate using the wireless network. If you have a non-wireless handheld device and do not have an Ethernet cradle, you must establish an ActiveSync connection between the handheld and desktop before installing the MSCM handheld software.

  1. Click Start.
  2. Select Internet Explorer.
  3. Specify the IP address for the application server and the path to the handheld files.

    For example: http://lawson17:8080/hh/

After you have successfully connected to the server, a browser window with Index of /hh/ is displayed.

Note: Steps 4 to 7 are required steps for Motorola MC70.
  4. Select MSCColdBoot.CAB .
  5. Click on the file.

The Download dialog box is displayed.

Ensure that the Open file after download option is selected.

  6. Tap Yes. The Save As window is displayed.
  7. On the Location menu, select Application, and then tap Install.
Note: Saving the CAB file on the \Application folder keeps it from being erased when a hard reset or cold boot is performed on the handheld device. To reinstall the CAB file after performing a hard reset, navigate to the \Application folder, and then tap the CAB file.
  8. Select PlatformDLL_Motorola.CAB and repeat steps 5 through 7.
  9. Select HHShell.CAB. Repeat steps 5 to 7.
  10. Select products to install, this may include any of these: MPC.CAB, RAD.CAB, POU.CAB, and SIM.CAB.

    Repeat steps 5 to 7.

  11. Close the browser window.
  12. Return to the handheld main screen and select Start > Programs from the list.
  13. A programs window is displayed. Double-click Mobile SCM.
Note: The Mobile SCM shortcut is displayed on the Start Menu.
  14. Before you can log into the handheld, you will need to point the handheld application to the application server. Select File.
  15. Select Settings and specify the MSCM server address and Infor Lawson server address. Note that the Storage Path field will contain \Lawson.
Note: The server address format consists of the server name and application server's default host port, for example, lawson17:8080. It must not contain any http:// string or directory name.
