Searching for a case from the desktop

Use this procedure to find a case in Point of Use for Department Inventory using the desktop.

Note: 

User should have the POU DI - Desktop - Case role to perform this task.

Note: 

The Point of Use for Department Inventory defaults to the search case page

Note: 

User has the option to search for a case by entering the exact Case ID without having to enter a value for company and facility.

Note: 

Value for 'Company' and 'Facility' (parameters) must be entered to allow users to search for case records using the following search parameters:

  • Department

  • Patient

  • Practitioner

  • Other Personnel

  • Item

Note: 

Value for 'Company' (parameter) must be entered to allow users to search for case records using 'procedure' as search parameter.

To find a case using the search-case function

  1. In the Case ID field, enter the exact Case ID.
  2. In the Company list, select the company name.
  3. In the Facility list, select the facility.
  4. In the Department list, select the department.
  5. In the Procedure Room list, select the room.
  6. In the Patient field, enter the first two characters of any of the following:
    • patient ID

    • patient first name

    • patient last name

    Select the patient record from the list displayed.

  7. In the Practitioner field, enter the first two characters of any of the following:
    • employee ID

    • employee first name

    • employee last name

    Select the practitioner record from the list displayed.

  8. In the Other Personnel field, enter the first two characters of any of the following:
    • name

    • role

    Select the other personnel record from the list displayed.

  9. In the Procedure field, enter the first two characters of any of the following:
    • charge code

    • description

    • CPT code

    Select the procedure record from the list displayed.

  10. In the Item field, enter the first two characters of any of the following:
    • item ID

    • description

    • manufacturer name

    • GTIN/HIBC

    • manufacturer code

    Select the item record from the list displayed.

  11. Enter the Case Date range manually, or you may also open the calendar to select "from" and "to" case date range.
  12. Click Search.

    All cases that satisfy the search parameters are listed.

  13. Select a case to open by clicking it. This displays the details of the case.
  14. Click Clear if you want to start another case search.
