Audit Log

Use the Audit Log form to view and delete messages in the audit log.

To have messages sent to the audit log, you must set Enable Audit Logging to 1 on the Process Defaults form.

Note: If you no longer want a certain audit log type to create an audit log, you must delete the audit log records on this form first, and then go to the Audit Log Types form and delete that type. You can only delete audit log types of 10,000 and greater.

Searching the audit log

The Audit Log form uses a filtering form space to retrieve audit log records. You must select a Message Type before any records are returned.

Filter-in-place is not available on this form. Wildcard searches on description and other text fields cannot use database indexing unless they are paired with an indexed column, this causes a poor performance against large audit log tables. The Message Type ensures that every search includes an indexed value.

The Message Type is required. This is a drop-down list that shows the message description for each type defined in the Audit Log Types form. Until you select a message type, the Search button is unavailable.

These fields are optional and can be used in any combination to narrow your results:
  • Log Description
  • Message Description
  • Primary Keys
  • Username
  • Start Date/Time
  • End Date/Time
  • Old Data
  • New Data

The optional fields work the same way as the grid filter fields.

Use the Search button to show the audit log records that match your criteria. And the Clear button to reset all search fields, including the message type.
Note: The Get More Rows and Refresh remain available on the toolbar, but both require a message type selection they could return data. To mark records for deletion, search for the records and then use the Mark Log for Deletion option on the rows returned in the grid.
