Controlling access to SQL table metadata

To restrict access to application metadata and prevent users from altering core SQL tables, system administrators can use the Metadata Access Controls form. The restrictions apply when users modify tables in the SQL Tables form, the SQL Columns form, and the UET Table/Class Relationships form.

Note:

Currently, system administrators can use the Metadata Access Controls form to restrict access only to SQL tables. The Metadata Access Controls form is accessible only to authorized system administrators and is read-only in multi-tenant cloud environments.

  1. Open the Metadata Access Controls form.
  2. Click Filter In Place.
  3. In the grid view, select the SQL metadata for which you want to establish access control.
  4. In the detail view, select an Access Type value for the selected metadata. You can select one of these options:
    • Read Only: Users can view, but cannot modify the metadata.
    • Locked: Users cannot view and cannot modify the metadata.
    • Unlocked: Users can view and modify the metadata.
  5. Click Save.
