Setting up the Infor Framework TaskMan service during installation

Note: This topic applies only to on-premises installations. For Multi-Tenant Cloud (MTC) customers, this activity is performed by the Cloud Enablement Team.

TaskMan is installed and configured as part of the installation. If you are not using an All-In-One database configuration, we recommend that you install TaskMan on the Application Server. Much of the TaskMan setup is done behind the scenes. For more information, see the Infor Mongoose Installation Guide.

The installation process performs these activities:

  1. Installs TaskMan on the Application Server, which places the RunReport.exe program, the TaskMan.exe program, and other necessary files in the correct installation folder.
  2. Sets up these subfolders within the installationFolder\Report folder:
    Subfolder Description
    Errors This subfolder:
    • Contains errors generated during report processing
    • Creates subfolders that match the IDs of the users who submitted the reports; for example, \Report\Errors\johsmi
    OutputFiles This subfolder:
    • Contains finished report output files
    • Creates subfolders that match the IDs of the users who submitted the reports
    • Displays the file extensions such as .DOC or .HTM that indicate the format of the report
    ParmFiles This subfolder:
    • Contains XML files with the report parameter information
    • Creates subfolders that match the IDs of the users who submitted the reports, for example, Report\ParmFiles\johsmi
Reports This subfolder contains all report definitions (.rdl) files.
Note: Error and output file names include the site name and task number, using the format taskName_site_taskNumber. If you configure TaskMan to run with two or more databases that have the same site specification, for example, test and production databases, and name clashes occur, a single digit is appended to the file name to eliminate the clash; for example: DatabaseSchemaReport_OH_150844_2
  3. Creates TaskMan as a Windows service on the Application Server, set for automatic startup.

If you enter a service logon ID and password during the TaskMan configuration part of the installation, the installation script uses that domain user ID and password to determine the Windows user account that controls the service.

After installation is complete, you can also set the service logon ID and password from the Services dialog box. For the procedure to do that, see your operating system help.

  4. Determines which Strings table in the to use when displaying report form labels. This is a language-dependent setting available in the Sites form.

You can also use the Service Configuration Manager utility to configure additional OLE databases for monitoring by TaskMan. Find the Server Service Configuration under Apps.
