Synchronizing Site or Group versions

The procedures for synchronizing customizations made at Site or Group scope type are similar to procedures for synchronizing Vendor versions. The differences are in the specification of a Source configuration and in the selection of a scope type to serve as a base level in synchronization.

This procedure applies both to forms and to global objects:

  1. Specify the configurations:
    1. If you are not on the FormSync Configurations page, access that page.
      • In the form version, this is done by clicking Configurations on the main page.
      • In the stand-alone version, from the File menu, select Change Configurations.
    2. Select a Source configuration that includes the forms database that contains your customizations.
This configuration normally accesses the development environment, in which the Site- and Group-level customizations were developed.
    3. Select a Target configuration that includes your production forms database or a copy of it.
    4. Click OK.
  2. Select the base scope type:
    1. (Stand-alone version only) Click Options.
    2. From the Synchronization base level drop-down list, select Site or Group.
In the stand-alone version, this field is labeled simply Base level.
  3. Set other options for synchronization or use the default settings. Proceed with synchronization as you would with a vendor-supplied application upgrade or service pack.
    Caution:
FormSync deletes any objects you select in the Target configuration customized at the base level and replaces them with versions from the Source configuration.
  4. (Stand-alone version only) Click OK.
  5. Click Synchronize.
