Edit Set <Variable | Component | Property> dialog box

Use this dialog box to set up and maintain variables, components, or properties, depending on the context or what parent dialog box calls up this dialog box.

Validators of several event response types can output values based on variables, components or properties. These response types include In Collection, In Inline List, In List Cache, Load Collection, Method Call, Run Form, and Set Values.

Depending on the context in which this dialog box displays, the Edit Target and Edit Value buttons might or might not be displayed.

This dialog box prompts users for the target and source for a given clause from a set values specification. The fields in the dialog box appear depending on the context in which it is displayed.

For InCollection validators and LoadCollection event handler parameters, the caption for this dialog box is Edit Set <Variable | Component | Property> From List.

Field Description
Target This field displays either a list of components on the current form (if this is a Set Component clause), global and form variables for the current form (if this is a Set Variables clause); or a list of properties on the selected collection on the current form (if this is a Set Properties clause).

Select the variable, component, or property that is the target that receives the output value.

To open the properties dialog for the selected target component (if this is a Set Component clause) or variable (if this is a Set Variable clause), click Edit Target.  This button is not shown if this is a Set Properties clause.

Value This field displays a list of properties for the IDO used for the collection.

Select a property from the list.

Collection for Target This field displays a list of collections on the current form.   Select a property from the list.  
Note: This field displays only if this is a Set Properties clause.

Set Values parameters

For Set Values event handler parameters, the caption for this dialog box is Edit Set <Variable | Component | Property> Pair.

Value Specify the value, which can be an expression containing substitution keywords, to be set to the variable, component, or property.

To open the Edit Value dialog, click Edit Value. This dialog provides expression builder functionality for expressions that are names or values of variables, components, or properties.

Collection for Target This field displays a list of collections on the current form.   Select a property from the list.  
Note: This field displays only if this is a Set Properties clause.

Run Form parameters

For Run Form event handlers parameters and for editing the Set Variable Values specification, the caption for this dialog box is Edit Set Variable Pair and restricted to Set Variables clauses.
