Viewing data logs remotely

The Log Monitor form displays a consolidated view of data logs per tenant configuration.

Note: When viewing data logs remotely, keep these facts in mind:
  • The Infor Framework Log Monitor Service is required to collect data logs that are displayed in the Log Monitor form. If you are operating in the cloud and have no access to Windows services, contact your system administrator to verify that it is running.
  • Data logs are dependent on configuration names. Data logs without configuration names are not collected, stored, or displayed in the Log Monitor form.
  • In any case, you cannot collect or view Diagnostics data in the Log Monitor form.
To view data logs remotely, use this procedure:
  1. Verify that the Infor Framework Log Monitor Service is running.
  2. In the Process Defaults form, set these process defaults:
    Enable Remote Logging
    Set to 1.
    Client Diagnostics send to LogMonitor
    (Optional) Set to 1.

This process default allows you to view Diagnostics data in the Log Monitor stand-alone utility only. The Log Monitor form cannot be used to view Diagnostics data.

  3. Save the changes.
  4. Open the Log Monitor form.
  5. Optionally, use the Log Monitor Policies form to filter the data collected:
    1. With the Log Monitor form in Filter-In-Place mode, click Open Filter Settings.
    2. On the Log Monitor Policies form, specify the filter criteria for the data you want the Log Monitor Service to collect.

See Filter criteria for Log Monitor data collection.

    3. When you are finished making your settings, save them.
    4. Return to the Log Monitor form.
  6. Optionally, specify filter criteria to use for the data display.
You can specify filter criteria according to any combination of Timestamp, Type, Source, or Message.

See Filter criteria for Log Monitor form data display.

  7. Execute Filter-In-Place.
The Log Monitor form displays all data already collected, using whatever filter criteria you might have specified in the previous two steps. If no filter criteria was specified, the form displays all data collected for the configuration.
  8. Wait approximately 30 seconds and then click the "Refresh the current collection" icon on the toolbar.
The Log Monitor form displays the data according to the specified filter criteria. You can repeat the previous step and this one until you have exactly the data you want.
  9. When you are finished with the Log Monitor form, return to the Process Defaults form and set both Enable Remote Logging and Client Diagnostics sent to LogMonitor to 0.
  10. (Optional, but recommended) Stop the Infor Framework Log Monitor Service or ask your system administrator to do that for you.
