Adding a timeline

The Timeline widget displays items from a data source in a visual timeline format. You can view the timeline and the listed items.

To add a timeline widget:

  1. Select Application Configuration > Configuration > Application > Dashboard Library. The Dashboard Library screen is displayed.
  2. Click the required dashboard. The Dashboard Builder screen is displayed.
  3. Click Edit. A confirmation window is displayed.
  4. Click Ok. The Select a Topic section is displayed.
  5. Click the required topic. The Select a Data Source section is displayed.
  6. Click the required data source. The Select a Widget Type section is displayed.
  7. Click Timeline. The Select a Timeline section is displayed.
  8. Drag and drop the Add New option from the Select a Timeline section to the dashboard. The Configure Timeline Widget section is displayed.
  9. Specify this information:
    Hide Title?
    If this check box is selected, the title of the timeline widget is not displayed.
    Data Source
    The data source linked to the widget.
    Content
    The items to display in the timeline. This field determines the name of the columns in the widget.
    Colour Grouping
    The output type by which the items are combined.
    Disable Scroll
    If this check box is selected, you cannot scroll through the timeline.
    Disable Zoom
    If this check box is selected, you cannot zoom into the timeline.
    Grouping
    The output type that separates the timeline vertically. Each grouped item is listed in a separate row.
    Grouping Sort Order
    The order in which groupings are listed. Possible values:
    • asc
    • desc
    Key Position
    The position of the Colour Grouping field on the widget. Possible values:
    • top
    • bottom
    • hidden
    Stack?
    If this check box is selected, overlapping items are separated to individual rows.
    Start
    The start date for the timeline item.
    End
    The end date for the timeline item. If this field is not specified, the end date starts from now and content becomes a Point in Time view.
    Tooltip
    The text to display in a tooltip for the item.
    Window Time Start
    The default start point for the time window. Items before the specified time are not displayed unless you scroll. If this field is not specified, the earliest start time of the item is considered.
    Window Time End
    The default end point for the time window. Items after the specified time are not displayed unless you scroll. If this field is not specified, the latest start time of the item is considered.
    Use Conditional Format?
    If this check box is selected, the conditional formatting is applied for the selected value in the Content field.
    Click Action Area
    The location that opens when you click the widget. For example, if you set this field to Overview, clicking the widget takes you to the Dashboard Overview screen.
  10. Click Save.
