Material Plants

Material Plant is configuration that links a material to a specific plant, holding plant-specific settings for that material. In multi-plant environments, the same material can have different cost structures, stock policies, supplier information, and inventory behavior at each facility. Instead of duplicating the entire material record, the application uses Material Plants to hold these plant-level attributes while the core material definition remains shared. A material can have one Material Plant record per plant where it is managed.

Material Plants hold the following information:

  • Costing information
  • Supplier details
  • Packaging weight
  • Inventory allocation strategy
  • Lot allocation strategy
  • Label template
  • External system validation flag

When a material is retired, all associated Material Plant records are automatically retired as well, and un-retiring the material reinstates the associated Material Plant records.
