Introduction

This chapter provides an overview of the Core Model framework in Infor MES and explains how master data, resources, and supporting structures are used to model manufacturing operations.

The Core Model establishes the foundation for production execution, inventory management, quality control, performance reporting, scheduling, and traceability across the application. By defining consistent master data, such as process types, production lines, machines, materials, bills of materials (BOMs), and organizational structures, the application ensures that manufacturing processes are represented in a standardized and reusable manner.

Understanding these concepts is essential for configuring and maintaining an MES implementation. The entities described in this chapter define how materials move through production processes, how equipment and resources are organized, how inventory is created and consumed, and how production activities are tracked and reported. These concepts form the basis for many other application modules and enable consistent behavior throughout the manufacturing lifecycle.
