Parallel Machines

Parallel machines perform the same operation at the same time. Material can move through any of these machines. If one machine stops, the remaining machines continue operation at reduced speed.

Example:

  • Line A: Cutting -> Washing -> Assembly -> Palletizing

In this production line, three cutting machines are running in parallel and two palletizers are running in parallel. In this case, you can define these line sections:

  • Cutting 1
  • Cutting 2
  • Cutting 3
  • Line A
  • Palletizing 1
  • Palletizing 2

If six cutting machines exist in two grouped sets, you can define these line sections:

  • Cutters 1, 2 & 3
  • Cutter 4, 5 & 6
  • Line A
  • Palletizing 1
  • Palletizing 2

Each group of cutters is defined as a single line section.
