Re-Ordering
Re-Ordering settings on each material are used to manage replenishment of inventory. The available settings include:
- Reorder Level: If the quantity in stock for this material drops below the reorder point, new material must be ordered from the supplying warehouse. This can be informational only or can trigger an automatic internal reorder.
- Automatically Reorder: Enables automatic raising of a replenishment order when the quantity of inventory in stock for the selected material falls below the reorder level.
- Minimum Stock Level: The minimum acceptable quantity to remain in stock for the material. Sometimes referred to as safety stock. When the stock level reaches this level, more material must be ordered.
- Maximum Stock Level: The maximum quantity to be available in stock for the material. This gives an indication of how much material can be ordered. Storage capacity, costs, frequency used, and use-by-dates can all affect the maximum stock level.
- Supplier: Materials can be linked to one or more suppliers. Sometimes the same material number can be received from multiple customers or managed as separate unique material numbers based on supplier variations.
- Supplier Minimum Order Quantity: The minimum order quantity accepted by the supplier when placing an order.
- Supplier Lead Time: The number of days required for the material to become available after placing an order with the supplier.
