Machine Types

Machine Types represent a grouping of machines that perform the same kind of operation.

The following characteristics are typically shared by machines within the same type:

• Perform the same manufacturing operations
• Share similar downtime reasons
• Have common root causes for scrap
• Use similar methods for count production

For example, Cutter and Washer are Machine Types, while Cutter-1, Cutter-2, Cutter-3, Washer-1, and Washer-2 represent individual machines within each type.
