Inventory pack traceability

Inventory Pack Traceability defines the default traceability behavior for material consumption, determining whether consumption is allowed and what type of consumption is expected. A specific material uses a consistent traceability setting. However, overrides can be applied at the BOM item level when required.

The available options include:

• No Traceability: Consumption cannot be recorded for the material. The material is not displayed in the traceability report.
• Consume - Specify Quantity: Exact quantities are recorded from the consumed pack to the created pack during consumption. Consumptions only occur only when the inventory is being created, with direct linkage between the consumed and the created inventory. This type is commonly referred to as serial consumption or build record consumption.
• Consume - Unspecified Quantity: Exact quantities are not known due to process constraints. The entire pack is loaded onto the machine, with unused portions returned to stock, if applicable. This type of consumption is known as time-based consumption or inventory usage.
• Material Verification: Validation ensures that the correct material is used in the process. However, quantity and source inventory packs are not recorded. This approach prevent selection or scanning of incorrect materials.
