Concepts
This chapter describes the end‑to‑end management of manufacturing tools as assets, including tool definition, usage, inspection, maintenance, and lifecycle management. Tools can be defined as individual tools or as tool packs containing cavities and sub‑tools and can be validated based on routing, material, and production requirements.
Tool Management tracks tool usage, location, asset state, inspections, maintenance, and counters to support productivity, quality, maintenance, and lifespan management.
The chapter also provides information about specialized tooling scenarios, such as bodymaker tooling, where measurements and progression tables are used to determine tool grades and compatible sub-tool configurations.
